Friday Live: The U2 360 Tour Time Lapse
Okay, so I'm cheating a little here. Today a time-lapse video of the load-in, show, and load-out of one of the stops on the U2 360 Tour was published by Live Design. The time lapse manages to impress upon you the mammoth scale of virtually every aspect of this production.
Here are some numbers to ponder while you watch:
500,000: Number of pixels on the expanding video screen
24: Universes of DMX for the lighting rig (that's a lot)
31: Stops on the current tour
3: Number of these stages they built, leapfrogging them through the tour
25: Followspot
1,344: Structural pins used on the video screen
196: Bad Boy fixtures on the lighting rig
164: Height, in feet, of the pylon/spire
8: Number of hours to set up the video screen
6: Number of hours to strike it
60: Approximate weight, in tons, of the video screen
1: Number of ideas show director Willie Williams pitched to the band
