Friday Live: "I Want You To" by Weezer
Weezer was my first musical infatuation. 'Ol Blue will always hold a special place in my heart and I imagine there will come a day when I will be old and nostalgic, listening to this album while flipping through High School yearbooks--if I had any clue where the hell I put those. A good friend of mine once wrote, "Everything I know about love, I learned from Rivers Cuomo." I suspect that statement is true for a lot of the guys, and maybe even some of the girls, of my generation.
Of course, like any good high school romance, my love of Weezer fizzled and faded away as I went to college and they released several albums of dubious charm and musical integrity. But this song has just enough of that Buddy Holly enthusiasm to make me feel like as though I'm back in High School when there was absolutely nothing wrong with sing along as loudly as you could to Weezer in your car. Which is what I've been doing. So it's safe to say this will be the song of the weekend. Which is good, as I'm going to spend the weekend moving and I'll need something upbeat to keep me going up and down the flights of stairs.
