Friday Live: "Spirit in the Sky" by Doctor and The Medics

With all the back and forth about the Catholic Church and whether the Pope covered up the crimes of his priests, etc. etc., I thought Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky would be a topical choice for this week's live pick.  But then while searching for the best live version of said song I stumbled upon this cover by Doctor and The Medics.  I watched the whole thing with my jaw on the floor.  I couldn't rob you of the experience, so I've chosen this cover instead.

Two things to remember while you watch this:

1.) This particular cover went to the top of the UK charts in 1986.

2.) There is a live audience of THOUSANDS here and they CHEER at the end.

Friday Live: "The Boys Are Back In Town" by Thin Lizzy

There's so much to love about this video that it's hard to pick just one thing, but if I had to, it would be the flashing neon 'Thin Lizzy' sign:

Friday Live: "One More Time" by Daft Punk

This week's pick is both an excellent example of why Daft Punk rocks and to quiet those few (you know who you are) who believe no one would go see DJs at a live show.

It's a terrible shame that these two don't do more tours, particularly here in the US, but if this is true we may get to see them here in the US later this summer.
